It is expected that Marc Guehi will sign for Manchester City from Crystal Palace in the next couple of days. Fabrizio Romano broke the news yesterday that Guehi was on the verge of completing a £20 million-plus add-ons move to City imminently. The addition of Marc Guehi to Pep Guardiola’s squad will be huge. Guehi fills a need at centre-back that City has now, and the England international figures to be a prominent player at the Etihad for years to come. Also, when looking at Pep Guardiola’s squad, Guehi’s signing continues the rebuild of the Manchester City squad. There now looks to be one move left for City to complete their rebuild.

Manchester City have identified Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson as their next transfer target.

With the signing of Antoine Semenyo complete and Marc Guehi expected to arrive at the Etihad in the coming days, two transfer targets that Manchester City had identified are wrapped up. There looks to be one player left for Manchester City to sign. That is Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Dean Jones has reported for TeamTalk that Manchester City have now set their sights on signing midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. Jones does report that any City move for the England international is likely to wait until next summer’s transfer window. Furthermore, Jones reports that Pep Guardiola sees Elliot Anderson as the ideal fit for his tactical system. Any City move to sign Elliot Anderson won’t be cheap as he is contracted with Nottingham Forest until 2029.

If City can sign Elliot Anderson the picture of Manchester City’s rebuild will nearly be complete.

The rebuild undertaken at City has been a gradual process. Having said that, the January addition of Antoine Semenyo and the imminent signing of Marc Guehi have accelerated the process. You do now sense that if City can sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest next summer, that could be the final piece of the jigsaw that is Manchester City’s rebuild.

Elliot Anderson looks every bit a Manchester City player. His energy, work rate, and ability in possession look ideally suited to life in a Pep Guardiola side. With the likelihood that a midfielder or two could leave City next summer, Elliot Anderson seems to be the ideal player to come in and be another key piece in the City rebuild.

Having signed Antoine Semenyo, and with Marc Guehi’s arrival at Manchester City now imminent, there appears to be one transfer target left for City to sign. That player is seemingly Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. If City can sign him next summer—a move this month doesn’t seem feasible—they would have almost completed the rebuild of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the future if they can sign the England international.
