Graham Potter was full of praise for his players despite defeat at Chelsea.

West Ham lost 2-1 to the Blues, having lead at half time thanks to a sublime Jarrod Bowen goal, however it wasn’t to be with some questionable decisions from the officials which played a significant part.

“You can see from the reaction of the supporters, they know their football, and I think the way they responded at the end of the game probably shows the effort the players put in,” Potter told the clubs Official Website.

“The way they played, the performance level, I think was good. We feel a little bit unlucky with the first goal and I think that was a key moment of the game.

“I think we deserved the point with the effort we put in and the application of the players.”

Potter was also full of praise for the travelling Hammers fans, who gave their appreciation to the team following their efforts which certainly deserved more.

“West Ham fans, they know their football,” added Potter. “They probably had a few bad experiences here, so I think they appreciated what the players did and what they gave.

“The level of substitutes was high for Chelsea and that probably helped them. But overall, I think the supporters were appreciative of the performance, of the effort of the players and the spirit.”
