Thiago Fernández has impressed on loan at Oviedo and, crucially, he can face parent club Villarreal.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, his loan has no so-called fear clause and no fee is required. He has emerged as a creator for an Oviedo side bottom and far from safety.
He was announced on two January, trained with Villarreal's first team for several weeks, then left on loan to gain minutes after a long knee injury and a year without football. He had moved on a free from Velez Sarsfield after winning Argentina's league in 2024.
He made his top flight debut on 31 January against Girona, coming on in the 64th minute with Santi Cazorla. 10 minutes later he squared for Ilyias to help end a 14 match winless run.
He featured as an impact substitute in the next four games. His first start came against Espanyol, when he assisted Reina for 0-1.
He added another assist in the win over Valencia, then a fourth in last Sunday's 0-3 at Celta de Vigo. The Villarreal loanee will look to underline his case for a role next season.
