Diario AS reports that Thiago Pitarch, 18, will remain with Real Madrid’s first team for the rest of the season after impressing on his first start in Friday’s win over Celta Vigo.
Since taking charge in January, Alvaro Arbeloa has turned to La Fabrica prospects, with David Jimenez, Pitarch and Cesar Palacios featuring in La Liga and the Champions League.
Arbeloa does not view Pitarch as cover for Jude Bellingham or Eduardo Camavinga, but as a full member of his squad, with the decision made after only 152 minutes for Los Blancos.
Pitarch stayed on ahead of Arda Guler during the victory in Galicia, which underlined Arbeloa’s faith. He is seen as an option between now and the end of the season, and if Arbeloa retains the job into the 2026-26 campaign, Pitarch is likely to remain in contention.
Real Madrid have struggled to rely on academy players in recent years, so supporters will welcome the sight of Pitarch in the famous white. Attention now turns to Manchester City’s visit on Wednesday, and whether he keeps his place with Camavinga recovered from recent tooth pain.
