Thiago Silva won the 31st trophy of his career on Saturday as FC Porto were crowned Portuguese champions.

According to O Jogo, the Brazilian defender first joined Porto B in 2004/05 in his European debut, leaving in December 2004 for Dynamo Moscow without a senior Porto appearance.

He re-signed in January, 21 years on, and has now become a Portuguese champion for the first time. At 41, he was not an automatic pick for Francesco Farioli, who mostly paired the Poles Bednarek and Kiwior.

Even so, Thiago Silva featured in 13 matches across competitions, seven in the league, providing cover after Nehuén Pérez suffered a serious injury.

His career haul already included seven French league titles, five Super Cups, five French Cups and six League Cups with Paris Saint-Germain, following a Serie A crown and a Super Cup at AC Milan.

He also won the Brazil Cup with Fluminense and, with Chelsea, the Champions League and Club World Cup, and was an unused substitute in the UEFA Super Cup. For Brazil he has 113 caps and seven goals, plus Confederations Cup and Copa América titles and four World Cup appearances.

Team-mates Diogo Costa, Cláudio Ramos, Zaidu and Pepê were already champions with Porto, while several others had league titles elsewhere.

Porto have now secured the national crown for the 31st time, reclaiming a title last lifted in 2021/22, succeeding Sporting, winners of the previous two editions.
