Thiaw leaves Milan camp for Newcastle United medical on Monday | OneFootball

Malick Thiaw has left the Milan camp and will undergo his Newcastle United medical on Monday, although there are a few variations on the reported costs.

The figures given by Sky Sports Deutschland transfer pundit Florian Plettenberg is €38m plus €4m in add-ons, slightly higher than the one in the Italian media, which had been €35m plus €5m in bonuses.

Regardless, Calciomercato.com confirm that Thiaw has already left the Milan training camp and should arrive in Newcastle this evening.

It is a short journey, seeing as the squad was in London anyway for this afternoon’s friendly match against Chelsea.

Thiaw sale gives Milan a big profit

The German defender had been purchased from Schalke 04 in 2022 for €9.3m plus up to another €10m in various add-ons.

He had been sold to Como earlier in the summer as part of a double deal with Alvaro Morata, but refused the destination, seeing it as a step down from Milan.

His contract at San Siro was only due to run until June 2027, so it was the right time for the club to cash in and make a big profit.
