According to AS, Thierry Correia left the pitch in the first half against Elche with muscular discomfort, forcing Valencia into an early change.

The right-back did not train on Wednesday and underwent medical tests that had ruled out any injury before the game.

Dimitri Foulquier came on and was loudly jeered by sections of the crowd, which set a fractious tone through the opening period. He slotted in at right-back behind Diego López.

Dimitrievski also caused alarm around the half hour when he went down and needed treatment. Third-choice keeper Rivero started to warm up, but the Macedonian was able to continue.

The setback added to Valencia’s recent run of fitness problems, with Agirrezabala and Diakhaby also suffering issues last week.
