Thierry Henry said the best team won as France were beaten 0-2 by Spain in the World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, L'Équipe reports.

Spain led from the 22nd minute after Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty, and France never recovered.

The former France international, who now works as a Fox analyst, said Spain controlled the ball and showed why they are European champions, adding they were far superior.

He warned that if you are not on it from the start it becomes difficult, and viewed Spain as the worst side to trail 1-0 against. He said it was hard to take.

Henry, capped 123 times with 51 goals, had visited the squad after the 2-0 quarter-final win over Morocco, and urged France to study what happened and come back stronger to try to defeat their new arch-enemy.
