Michael Edwards could finally sign the latest gem from the Championship.

Michael Olise would be the perfect signing for Liverpool this summer. Let's make that clear.

He offers exactly the kind of creativity and unpredictability the squad occasionally lacks in the final third. Few wide players in Europe are as naturally gifted in one-vs-one situations as the Frenchman.

Olise has that rare ability to completely freeze defenders before gliding past them with balance, close control and quick changes of direction. In tight games where low blocks frustrate Liverpool, he would provide the kind of individual brilliance capable of turning matches instantly.

What makes Olise especially attractive is that he is not simply a flashy dribbler. His end product is elite. Whether operating from the right wing or drifting centrally, he consistently creates chances through incisive passing, whipped crosses and clever through balls. Liverpool have long relied on their full-backs for creativity, but Olise would add another dimension entirely.

He sees passes early, manipulates defensive shapes and has the composure to make the correct decision in crowded attacking areas. In many ways, he looks tailor-made for the intensity and attacking freedom Liverpool demand.

His technical quality would also complement players like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak perfectly.

Defenders would struggle to cope with multiple runners and creators rotating positions at speed. Olise’s delivery from set pieces and open play would likely elevate Liverpool’s attacking numbers even further.

At just 24, he also fits the profile of a player who could dominate at the highest level for years.

However, despite how ideal the move sounds on paper, there is realistically no chance of it happening this summer.

Bayern Munich have absolutely no reason to sell one of their most exciting attacking talents after only a short period at the club.

They view Olise as a cornerstone of their future, not a player available for negotiation.

On top of that, it is difficult to imagine Olise wanting to join Liverpool at this moment, anyway.

The uncertainty surrounding Arne Slot and his long-term future creates too many questions about the club’s direction. For a player entering his prime, stability and clarity matter enormously, and Bayern currently offer both.

So, Liverpool have to give up notions of Olise representing the Reds - at least next season anyway. At some point down the line, it might be possible. But not for now.

Instead, Edwards will have to look at the next Olise. A right-winger who could be a gem and who is producing quality numbers in the Championship - where Olise first made his name with Reading.

And there's a player exactly like that. Someone who has also been on Liverpool's radar for a very long time and who also graduated from Reading's academy.

Back when he was at Reading, Femi Azeez attracted the attention of some of England's biggest clubs. Liverpool were among his most serious suitors. However, a serious injury derailed his career a little bit and also prevented him from joining the Reds.

Azeez is now 24-years-old and he is finally flourishing at Millwall, where he was one of the best players in the Championship this season.

The right-winger, who is left-footed ended the season with 19 goal contributions in 35 games for Millwall and averaged the most expected assists (0.27 per 90 minutes) of any player in the competition to have played at least 1000 minutes.

Liverpool need someone who is excellent at providing and creating chances but also excels in one vs one situations. Azeez is exactly that.

He averaged the third most crosses per 90 minutes (6.74) and averaged 6.8 dribbles per 90 minutes, which was the seventh highest in the league. Out of those players to have attempted at least five dribbles per 90 minutes, Azeez had the fourth best completion rate (63%).

He's still young and he ticks so many boxes for Liverpool. Given there has been previous interest in him, it would make so much sense for Edwards to finally sign him.

In the process, Azeez could become Liverpool's very own Olise.
