Arne Slot's future at Liverpool is all over, there is no going back for him now.
Things are unravelling in a really nasty way for the Dutchman. To think that around one year ago, Liverpool were celebrating one of the greatest days in the club's history.
How dark and how starkly negative everything has been since then has been difficult to witness and bare for fans.
Slot's hold on his job is rapidly fading, he's probably reached a point of no return at this stage.
A 4–0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday was yet a dire indictment of an awful season. Liverpool have now lost 15 matches, They've lost more games in their last 26 Premier League (10) matches than they have won (9).
But what was even worse was the way Liverpool capitulated to Paris Saint Germain.
Slot's last chance to redeem himself was probably this game in Paris against an opponent he knows all too well, against an opponent he praises far too often because of how well they play.
And what was Slot's reaction to Paris Saint Germain?
He'd been speaking about how much he loves two teams going toe-to-toe with each other. Attacking football. How the game Liverpool played against Paris Saint Germain was the highest he ever witnessed as a coach.
He is a manager who proclaims to be in favour of attacking football.
Yet.
And yet.
He proceeds to scrap all of that on the biggest night of his career.
And what did he do? He went full park the bus mode - played a back three for the first time in his career in an attempt to limit the space for PSG.
To make matters worse it didn't even work. PSG scored within the first 12 minutes of the game, they managed to get an xG of well over two expected goals and just utterly dominated Liverpool.
Slot had plenty of time to prepare for this game - he had two weeks off during the international game. In these two weeks he promised to turn things around.
Instead, he's cowered away and made a very defensive approach all in a bid to protect himself. And that didn't even work.
