A week of Lazio memories, 16-22 February, spans landmark wins, derby drama, European nights, and remembrance of Arne Selmosson. According to The Laziali, the standout is a 1974 triumph at the Olimpico.

On 17 February 1974, Lazio overwhelmed Juventus. Renzo Garlaschelli struck after five minutes, Giorgio Chinaglia fired a 28-minute free-kick, then Felice Pulici saved Antonello Cuccureddu’s penalty. Pietro Anastasi replied from the spot, before Chinaglia converted to seal 3-1.

On 18 February 1979, Lazio dismantled Fiorentina 4-0, with Bruno Giordano and Vincenzo D’Amico starring.

On 19 February 1995, Lazio routed Milan 4-0, ending a 17-year home wait as Giuseppe Signori and Pierluigi Casiraghi were ruthless. Inter were beaten 3-0 on 22 February 1998, with Diego Fuser, Alen Boksic and Casiraghi scoring.

On 18 February 1996, the derby finished Lazio 1-0 Roma after Giuseppe Lanna’s senseless handball. On 21 February 2001, Lazio drew 2-2 with Real Madrid in the Champions League second group phase, denied by two crossbars and two defensive errors.

In memory, Arne Selmosson, ‘Raggio di Luna’, played 101 league games and scored 31 goals for Lazio before a controversial 1958 move to Roma. A 1958 World Cup silver medallist with Sweden, he was respected on both sides of the Tiber and died on 22 February 2002.

Birthdays include Angelo Peruzzi, Giuseppe Signori, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Ciro Immobile, Alen Boksic and Luca Marchegiani across 16-22 February, with Immobile on 20 February reaching 340 appearances and 207 goals for Lazio.
