Thomas Frank hailed the Tottenham fans for their backing during his side’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Goals from Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke gave Frank a much needed win at home following a run of just one win in eight games in all competitions.
“I think, especially first half, you felt it could be a special European night and I think the fans were absolutely great,” Frank told TNT Sports after the game. “They were really behind the team.
“I think they were really behind the team. The atmosphere and the energy and how that transmitted to the players. That was special.
“We need to bring this win and this performance into momentum for Burnley and we need to perform and win.
“I think the margins haven’t been completely with us all the time and you need that sometimes.
“I think this is the eighth game in a row where we’ve done a lot of things right. Now we also turn it into a result and we need to build on that.”
Frank also praised the performance of attacker Xavi Simons in the victory, who played despite suffering an ankle injury in the loss to West Ham.
“I think there was many good bits,” he said. “I liked his mentality to push through an injury, playing with pain, and I liked his determination and focus. I think he had some decisive actions.”
The only negative for Spurs was an injury to Lucas Bergvall, who was forced off during the second half.
“It was a contact (injury) and they are assessing him now so we will know more on Thursday,” Frank said.
