Thomas Meunier set for medical at Sunderland | OneFootball

Sunderland are close to completing the signing of experienced full-back Thomas Meunier according to reports.

The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with Lille expired earlier this summer following two years at the club. Before that, Meunier had a brief stint with Trabzonspor but also represented Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and Club Brugge.

Now, Meunier is set for his first taste of English football with David Ornstein of The Athletic reporting that the player has agreed a two-year deal with Sunderland.

The player has already landed in England and will now undergo a medical before the transfer can be finalised.

Meunier was also a part of the Belgium side who reached the 2026 World Cup finals, featuring three times in the tournament for his nation.
