The ruthless Three Lions ran out 5-0 victors in Belgrade on Tuesday night to put themselves within touching distance of qualifying for next year’s World Cup.

Tuchel’s side dominated their hosts, as goals from Harry Kane, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford secured a memorable triumph.

The performance and result was the best of Tuchel’s time in charge of England so far, and he says that is now the standard his players must aim to hit on a regular basis.

“Every game is different,” said Tuchel. “I said we had a meeting in the beginning [of this camp], and we had our learnings from the first two camps.

“We have only had three weeks of training together. Three weeks of training is normally half a pre-season, so it takes a bit of time.

“We started new, we started fresh after the first two camps. The first camp was very good, the second camp was so-so.

“We did our learnings and started new. We gave the players clarity in their roles in the structure we are playing, and from this we put in the responsibility to put it to life - and they did excellent.

“The credit goes to them, they did amazing. That’s the bar.”

England took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Kane headed home Declan Rice’s corner, and they did not look back after that.

Madueke made it 2-0 before half-time with his first goal for England, while Konsa put the game to bed shortly after the break.

As well as Madueke, it was also the defender’s first senior goal for England and the duo were quickly joined in reaching that landmark by Guehi, who netted the Three Lions’ fourth on the night.

A late Rashford penalty was the icing on the cake after fellow substitute Ollie Watkins was fouled.

“I am more than happy for the team and staff,” said Tuchel. “We had an excellent week from start to finish.

“We just proved what I saw every day in this camp, and that makes me very happy.

“We played with a lot of intensity, we put a lot of work in. I think it was teamwork in its purest form.

“From there, we showed our quality. We kept Serbia to no shots on target, we did not allow chances.

“You have to put a lot of work in to do that, a lot of invisible work that you get no praise for. There was a lot of effort, it was good to watch.”
