Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation is reaching unprecedented levels of uncertainty ahead of the summer.
Earlier in the season the club triggered an extension in Alisson Becker’s contract, but that has not stopped rumours swirling of a move away for the Brazilian.
Juventus have been the most heavily linked side and at one point were confident of securing the 33-year-old's signature.
Now though nothing is certain, and speculation is beginning to rise that it could instead be Giorgi Mamardashvili who leaves Anfield this summer.
Third choice Freddie Woodman impressed in his limited opportunities this season but is now into the final weeks of his contract.
As talk of Alisson spending another season with Liverpool intensifies, rumours of his deputy’s dissatisfaction do too.
Mamardashvili wants to be a first-choice and, if Alisson stays, could look to move out on loan to secure guaranteed first-team football.
With the long-term future of the club in mind, Richard Hughes has begun to look for a loan move for the Georgian ‘keeper, and three Italian clubs have been offered the chance to sign him.
That’s according to transfer insider Nicolo Schira, who claims that Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus have all been offered the chance to sign Mamardashvili on loan this summer.
Negotiations over a move for Alisson between Liverpool and Juventus cannot be as advanced as some Italian reports are claiming if the Reds have now offered Juve their back-up ‘keeper instead.
If Mamardashvili does leave on loan, the Reds will need to consider who can step up to replace him as Alisson’s deputy, with Armin Pecsi and Vitezslav Jaros both potential options from within the club.
Alternatively, Liverpool could turn to the transfer market to try and find an experienced alternative.
