Inter Miami claimed their first win of the season with a 4-2 comeback away to cross-state rivals Orlando City. The Herons overturned a two-goal deficit to take all three points.
The visitors began in a 4-2-3-1 that Orlando’s front three exploited, with strikes in the 18th and 24th minutes putting the Lions 2-0 up. interheron.com highlights three key takeaways from the match.
After a fiery team talk, Javier Mascherano switched to a quasi back three, moving Micael to left-back after Noah Allen made way for Mateo Silvetti. With Allende and Silvetti wide, Miami stretched the flanks and created space for Lionel Messi between the lines.
Silvetti pulled one back on 49 minutes, then Messi levelled eight minutes later. Sustained pressure told late, with further goals in the 85th and 90th minutes sealing the turnaround.
German Berterame is yet to score, but his graft proved vital. He chased a loose ball, shrugged off his marker and squared for Telasco Segovia to apply the game-clinching finish.
At 38, Messi again underlined his class with a brace. He looked to be enjoying himself even without Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
