Tiago Gouveia returns from Nice as Benfica plan without him | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Nice have decided against activating the €8 million buy option for Tiago Gouveia, who returns to Benfica but is not in their plans for 2026/27.

With a contract to 2028, Benfica’s hierarchy are already working on a definitive solution, with a permanent sale the priority and no fee yet set.

The 24-year-old winger spent this season on loan at Nice, making 24 appearances, only 10 starts, and completing 90 minutes twice. He scored two goals, both against Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League.

Across those outings he totalled 935 minutes, spread across 15 Ligue 1 matches, seven in the Europa League and two in the Coupe de France.

Loaned in the summer as he was not in Bruno Lage’s plans, Gouveia has endured a difficult spell in France, struggling for consistency and to meet Benfica’s expectations.
