Security fears have surfaced around Académico de Viseu’s I Liga meeting with FC Porto amid parallel ticket resale that could place hundreds of away fans outside the designated sector. According to O Jogo, the authorities have been alerted and officials at both clubs share the concern.
The fourth-round fixture is set for 18:00 on Saturday. FC Porto’s five per cent allocation sold out quickly, and a request for extra tickets was turned down by Académico de Viseu.
Local sales in Viseu began on Sunday, with early signs of secondary-market activity. In response, the home club announced restrictions, including a ban on Porto colours or merchandise in any stand other than the away end.
Each Académico member is permitted to buy two additional tickets at public price. These are largely the tickets now circulating on resale platforms.
In a routine pre-match meeting, Porto relayed concerns to the organising bodies, namely the Liga, the PSP and Académico de Viseu. The club argues it cannot be held responsible for any incident that might occur outside the visiting section if supporters are dispersed around the ground.
All parties acknowledged the situation could be challenging from a safety standpoint. The possibility of reconfiguring the away sector is understood to have been considered, but Académico de Viseu opted to maintain the original arrangement.
