Tino Livramento couldn’t have made a better start to the tournament as he was man of the match when the England Under 21s beat the Czech Republic 3-1 in their opening group game. The NUFC star was excellent in defence and going forward, getting an assist for the second goal.

Sunday saw the Young Lions in their second group match, a 5pm kick-off against Slovenia.

Lee Carsley makes two changes from the side that beat the Czech Republic in the opening game. Ethan Nwaneri and Hayden Hackney coming in for Alex Scott and Omari Hutchinson.

England Under 21s team v Slovenia:

Beadle, Gray, Quansah, Cresswell, Livramento, Hackney, Anderson, Elliott, Nwaneri, McAtee, Rowe

England were once again the dominant team, although Slovenia proving dangerous on the break.

Tino Livramento giving another assured performance, confident at the back and a real threat when going forward.

It was self-evident where England’s biggest weakness was, as despite having 65% possession, 41 touches in the opposition box compared to only 7 for Slovenia at the other end and England having 20 shots, they only managed three on target.

The likes of Harvey Elliott, James McAtee and Ethan Nwaneri all should have done better with the opportunities that came their way.

The match ended in a frustrating goalless draw, a game which they should have won, but could have lost as well. Despite only seven touches in the England box, Slovenia did threaten as the likes of Liverpool’s Quansah struggled at the back.

England grateful to James Beadle as the England keeper made some decent saves.

Elliot Anderson was the other player who for me stood out, as well as Beadle and Tino Livramento, the former United player at the heart of most of England’s better moves.

Although Tino Livramento didn’t reach the levels of his performance in the opening group game, he still shaded man of the match for me.

BBC Sport invited visitors to rate all the England Under 21 players for their performance against Slovenia and they agreed:
