Chelsea legend John Terry has admitted he’s “gutted” Enzo Fernandez won’t be playing against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Blues welcome City to Stamford Bridge in a huge game for both sides for vastly different reasons, with Chelsea looking to secure a top five finish and Champions League football.
In fact the Blues are looking for their first win against Pep Guardiola’s men since the 2021 Champions League final, a run stretching 12 matches.
Liam Rosenior has confirmed both Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah will miss the game, whilst Fernandez will serve the final game of his ban.
Being without Fernandez for arguably the biggest game of the season is a huge blow, and a decision which has drawn a mixed reaction.
Joe Cole has labelled the whole situation a mess, and Terry has now admitted he’s “gutted” Fernandez won’t feature against City.
“But obviously we miss the game with Enzo, who missed the Port Vale game in the FA Cup,” he said on TikTok.
“I never really understand this, to be honest. He’s been one of our best players this season.
“He fights for the shirt. And I just think these issues can be dealt with internally because it feels like the only team that loses out in these instances are Chelsea.
“We go without one of our best players and captain or vice-captain for a really big game and an important part of the season. So I’m gutted he’s not playing. Hopefully we can still do the job without him.”

Rosenior was full of praise for Caicedo in the build up to the game, and if Chelsea are going to stand any chance of a positive result the Ecuadorian will need to be at his best.
