Boca returned to winning ways after four matches without a victory, beating Lanús at La Fortaleza. Young midfielder Tomás Aranda caught the eye on his first start.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the Ciudadela-born player has been making the most of his chances in Boca’s senior side and left the ground pleased with his progress.
He said this is what he dreamed of as a child and that he feels fortunate things are falling into place. He described his game as one where he does not hide and always asks for the ball, even when play is not flowing for him.
Aranda added that team-mates urge him to keep working with humility so performances continue to come. He also set out his inspirations, naming Juan Román Riquelme as a major influence alongside Neymar, Lionel Messi and Leandro Paredes, while stressing he wants to build his own style.
Head coach Claudio Úbeda praised the youngster’s display in his post-match press conference. He said Aranda played very well, stayed organised without the ball and held his position across the midfield line.
Úbeda added that Aranda looked as if he had started many more games.
