Tomás Rincón has officially left Santos after agreeing to terminate his contract.
The player said in a post that representing one of world football's most important shirts had been a great honour, thanking fans for their affection and respect. He added that he wished the club a quick return to silverware and that he would remain a supporter.
He had been under contract until the end of this season but fell outside coach Cuca's plans.
Rincón joined in the second half of 2023 and made 78 official appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
He took on a leadership role and, after relegation to Série B of the Campeonato Brasileiro, was among the first to accept a salary reduction to stay. In August last year he signed a new deal with salary progression, reflecting the earlier pay cut during Série B.
In March the club were prepared to ease his departure if an offer arrived, as his minutes were limited. After Cuca's arrival he earned a reprieve following talks with the coach, featuring against Cruzeiro and Bahia in the Brasileirão. In other matches he remained an unused substitute.
