Milan have told defender Fikayo Tomori to find himself another club, and while Newcastle United have been mentioned, Coventry City remain the most determined.

The centre-back is not part of the plans under new coach Ruben Amorim, although he has already put up a lot of resistance in the past.

He was on the verge of a move to Tottenham Hotspur when blocking the exit, refusing a return to the Premier League.

MilanNews have mentioned Newcastle United as a potential destination, although the club most interested in his services this summer is Coventry City.

This is largely down to coach Frank Lampard, who already worked with Tomori when they were together at Chelsea.

“I think just something tells me that Lampard might be trying really hard behind the scenes to get this one done,” said former Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness on Football Insider’s podcast.

“Coventry will need something to try and strengthen in some way, and they need some talismen as well.

“Tomori is a reasonable player. I don’t think he’s a world-beater, but he’s certainly up there. I think he could do that job for them at Coventry. In the end, think if Newcastle don’t come to the party, he will end up at Coventry with Lampard.”

Milan are particularly desperate to make a sale because his current contract at San Siro only runs to the end of the season, and they do not want to risk losing him as a free transfer.

The 28-year-old first arrived on loan from Chelsea in January 2021, then earned a permanent transfer for €35.3m.
