The last two years have not really been easy for Real Madrid, as they remained trophyless for two consecutive seasons, despite having one of the best teams in Europe. While managers like Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, and Alvaro Arbeloa have paid the ultimate price for these failures, the players have also faced a lot of criticism.

This is particularly true for the bigger stars in the team, the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham is another big star who has seen his performances dwindle in the last two seasons, and as a result, has been criticized a lot in the media.

However, the Englishman still enjoys the confidence of some of the most notable voices in European football. As MARCA has reported, the former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos and the former English defender Rio Ferdinand both separately expressed their belief in the player.

The German icon talked about his former teammate at Real Madrid in his podcast, and highlighted how good his first season at the Merengue club was:

“He is one of the most complete midfielders in the world… His first year in Madrid was incredible. He really surprised me.”

Meanwhile, Ferdinand also spoke highly of his compatriot, and believed he has been unfairly targeted in the media:

“They’ve tried to paint a picture of him that doesn’t match reality… They’ve tried to make up stories about him.”

“I see very, very special qualities in him… He’s going to write his own story and create his own legacy. We just have to watch how it all unfolds.”

Despite these two poor seasons, there is no doubt that the English star has the capabilities to mark himself as one of the very best midfielders in Europe. The turmoil that has surrounded the Merengue club in these last few years undoubtedly affected his performances, as it also affected those of his other teammates, while his struggles with injuries also did not help matters.

Hopefully, the new project that is set to begin with the arrival of Jose Mourinho on the Real Madrid bench would once again bring the best out of Jude Bellingham, and both of them would be able to work together to get the Merengues side back on winning ways.
