FC Bayern’s planning for the coming season is in full swing – but not every transfer candidate has met with unreserved approval internally. One name in particular is currently causing a lot of discussion at Säbener Straße: Anthony Gordon
The 25-year-old winger from Newcastle United is regarded as the ideal solution for the attack and , according to consistent media reports, Munich have already looked at him intensively and even initiated the first steps
However, two key factors are curbing the euphoria at the Isar, as reported by SPORT1. Firstly, a transfer fee of over 80 million euros is being discussed – an amount that is currently viewed critically at FC Bayern. Internally, there is a consensus that such a price can hardly be justified for a player in this role
On the other hand, there are differing opinions within the club’s management regarding the sporting necessity of such a transfer

In the plans, Gordon is apparently primarily intended as an alternative for Luis Díaz, which is precisely where the doubts arise
The Colombian is one of the most consistent performers in the Bayern squad, impressing not only with his strong performances but also with his robustness – injuries have not been an issue so far
For some managers, this raises the question of whether an expensive backup player should really be a priority, especially in view of the club’s overall financial strategy
At the same time, the internal focus is increasingly shifting to other positions, with full-back in particular becoming more of a priority
The reasons are obvious: Alphonso Davies is considered to be injury-prone, while Konrad Laimer’s contract situation is causing additional uncertainty. The Austrian is apparently demanding a significant pay rise – a topic that is causing internal discussions
Max Eberl had already hinted recently that Laimer’s departure could not be ruled out. Uli Hoeneß also took a clear stance in the debate surrounding the 28-year-old. „Konny is a player I hold in high regard, but he’s not Maradona,“ said the honorary president, making it clear that there are financial limits.
