Today marks four years of Eddie Howe at Newcastle United.

The great man starting work at St James’ Park on 8 November 2021.

What a four years it has been!

Eddie Howe watched his first Newcastle United match from a hotel room, having contracted Covid, a 3-3 draw with Brentford at St James’ Park.

Tomorrow sees United play Brentford once again, this time away, the first match of his fifth year in charge.

Here are my top ten moments of Eddie Howe at Newcastle United so far.

In no particular order, well, a little bit…

Liverpool 1 Newcastle 2 (16 March 2025)

It has to be hasn’t it?

Eddie Howe leading United to their first trophy in 56 years AND they dominated Liverpool at Wembley.

Newcastle 0 Leicester 0 (22 May 2023)

United battered the Foxes who were on their way to the Championship.

Yet only a goalless draw in this final home match of that 2022/23 season.

Yet this was the point that made mathematically certain that Eddie Howe’s NUFC were returning to the Champions League after an absence of more than two decades.

7 January 2022

The first Eddie Howe season and arguably the best so far.

Kieran Trippier has been astonishing for Newcastle United and helped pave the way for so many other extraordinary signings.

How did he do that?

Eddie Howe came in mid-season with Newcastle looking relegation certainties, yet the second half of the 2021/22 season saw United with the third best Premier League form over the course of the final 19 PL games that season.

4 November 2023

Newcastle deservedly won the match 1-0 but the behaviour of Mikel Arteta, his players and the club overall, was absolutely  appalling.

Reminding us all of just how lucky we are to have somebody like Eddie Howe.

Newcastle 0 Everton 1 (25 May 2025)

Defeat at home to the Scouse Mackems but what a celebration!

Rounding off a trophy winning season with a second Champions League qualification in three years.

8.19pm on 5 February 2025

The moment when we knew for sure that Newcastle were going back to Wembley.

Having won 2-0 at the Emirates, Jacob Murphy putting United 1-0 ahead in the second leg against Arsenal, 3-0 up on aggregate.

Alexander Isak

The way Eddie Howe has dealt with the mess caused by the scouse rat has been extraordinary.

Eddie has held it all together despite so much pressure and refused to allow Isak to ruin this season.

A brilliant signing by Eddie Howe and turned him into a Premier League record sale to another PL club.

4 October 2023

The best Champions League win under Eddie Howe, so far…

Newcastle 4 PSG 1.

When Eddie Howe speaks

Not a single moment but so important, every time I hear Eddie Howe speaking, I feel proud that he is our manager.
