With Gennaro Gattuso due to reveal his Italy squad on Friday, the 15 highest-rated Italian performers from Serie A week 29 are outlined here.

According to Football Italia, nine of the 10 fixtures were completed between Friday and Sunday, with Cremonese v Fiorentina to follow at 19.45 GMT on Monday.

Top scores of 7.5 went to Matteo Politano* for Napoli’s 2-1 win over Lecce, and to Antonio Caracciolo* in Pisa’s 3-1 defeat of Cagliari, with Stefano Moreo also rated 7.5.

On 7.0 were Arturo Calabresi, Nicolo Cambiaghi*, and Pio Esposito. The 6.5 group featured Daniel Maldini, Mattia Zaccagni, Riccardo Orsolini, Alessandro Marcandalli, Manuel Locatelli, Leonardo Spinazzola, Samuele Angori, Nicolo Barella and Davide Zappacosta.

The call-ups precede a crucial World Cup play-off campaign. Italy host Northern Ireland in Bergamo on 26 March in a semi-final, with the winner to face Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina away on 31 March for a finals place.
