FLW have looked at the highest-paid players at the London Stadium after the Hammers were relegated

West Ham United's relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, and the fallout which has ensued afterward has been well-documented.

Indeed, the East London club were UEFA Conference League champions no less than three years ago, but were unable to fully resurrect what had been a disastrous start to last season under Graham Potter, despite a relative upturn in results under Nuno Espírito Santo.

The 52-year-old then, after a period of uncertainty, confirmed that he will be staying on as head coach for 2026/27, as he looks to add a second Championship title success to his CV, having done so eight years ago in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Plenty of change is, of course, likely to occur at the London Stadium between now and the start of the league season, but the Hammers have already been tipped as the early title favourites, especially when assessing the makeup of the current squad.

However, relegation has seen all except one player receive a reported 50 percent wage reduction in their contracts.

With that in mind, FLW have looked at the seven-highest earners, also in line with Capology's ESTIMATED figures.

7 ? ? Tomas Soucek

The seventh-highest earner on West Ham's payroll is said to be experienced Czech midfielder, Tomas Soucek, who has been at the club permanently since a £19.1m transfer from Slavia Prague in July 2020.

Soucek has since racked up nearly 300 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, which includes their deep runs in the UEFA Europa League and Conference League earlier in the decade, although his availability was significantly limited last season.

That said, he was a part of Czechia's World Cup squad, but suffered an ankle injury in their final match against Mexico last month.

In line with the aforementioned wage reduction hit, the 31-year-old is looking at a £45,000 per week wage this season.

6 ? ? Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The same wage figure of £45,000 per week applies for DR Congo international and right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was signed from Manchester United on a seven-year contract two summers ago for just £15m.

If the 28-year-old does stick around at the London Stadium, it would be his maiden experience of a 46-game Championship campaign, although he has been heavily linked with moves to the likes of Premier League champions, Arsenal, and Everton in recent weeks, while the club have reportedly set out a £25m valuation.

5 ? ? Niclas Füllkrug

Niclas Füllkrug is next up, and the German forward could see his wages half to £45,000 also, based on Capology's figures, even though it has been claimed his wages are unaffordable for clubs outside of England as Nuno looks to offload him this summer.

The attacker signed a four-year contract after the Irons agreed a £27m fee with Borussia Dortmund in 2024, but he has only scored three goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

His latest transfer scenario also comes after an underwhelming loan stint with AC Milan, where the 33-year-old scored just once in 20 outings.

4 ? ? Edson Alvarez

Mexican midfielder, Edson Alvarez, was signed by West Ham for £35.4m from Ajax three summers ago on another long-term contract, and the club now faces extreme difficulty shifting him off their payroll.

Alvarez featured in Mexico's run to the World Cup round of 16, where they were defeated 3-2 by England at the Azteca Stadium, after spending last season on loan in Türkiye with Fenerbahçe.

However, after his summer tournament ended, the 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga side, FC Koln, but that now appears to be in jeopardy due to wage demands.

If a wage reduction clause is in place, Alvarez would be earning £50,000 per week in the Championship.

3 ? ? Max Kilman

Max Kilman was signed for £40m from Wolves on a seven-year contract in 2024, and it is fair to say that hardly anyone sees such a fee as justifiable based on the club's recent trajectory and the centre-back's impact.

The 29-year-old was reportedly of interest to Premier League newcomers, Ipswich Town, last month following the appointment of his former Molineux boss, Gary O'Neil, at Portman Road, although other defensive options have since been the subject of greater exit talk.

However, with a 50 percent wage reduction, Kilman would still be earning £50,000 himself.

2 ? ? Alphonse Areola

French goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola, is the final player on this list set to receive a wage cut, which would limit his earnings to around £60,000 per week.

That said, it has been claimed that he is likely to leave the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut after falling out of favour in the second half of last season under Nuno.

Indeed, the 33-year-old's last outing in the Premier League came in the 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in January, where he was dropped in place of Mads Hermansen.

1 ? ? Jarrod Bowen

However, it has been widely reported that Jarrod Bowen will not receive a wage reduction, meaning the winger and captain could earn up to £150,000 per week in the Championship, just three years after scoring the Conference League-clinching strike in Prague versus Fiorentina.

He was signed for £20m-plus from Hull City six years ago, and saw his last contract extension also be a seven-year deal in 2023, meaning he is still under contract in E20 for the next four years if a move does not materialise.

However, his father-in-law and lifelong West Ham fan, Danny Dyer, recently claimed that Bowen will not be exiting the Irons this summer despite talk of a move to the likes of Aston Villa.
