FLW takes a look at Wolves' highest-paid players for the upcoming campaign as per Capology estimates

Wolverhampton Wanderers are a Championship club once again for the first time in eight years after a long-term spell in the Premier League, as the Old Gold prepare for life back in the second tier under a new head coach.

Indeed, Wolves finished bottom of the top flight last, succumbing to relegation to the Championship in the process.

Rob Edwards, who replaced Vitor Pereira in the Molineux dugout last November, was expected to lead the club back into the second tier, but his surprise dismissal and subsequent replacement in the form of Cesar Peixoto has shaken things up around the Black Country.

Peixoto made his first addition since his arrival in the form of Comoros international Rafiki Said for around £7.7 million from Belgian side Standard Liege, though there is still an enormous amount of movement to occur at the club between now and the end of the window.

Wolves have one of the highest wage bills in the second tier, and will need to subsidise their books to align with PSR regulations, as FLW takes a look at the club's top seven highest earners, as per estimates from Capology.

7 ? ? Hwang Hee-chan

Capology estimated wage - £70k per week

Starting things off is Korean attacker Hwang Hee-chan, who is entering his sixth consecutive year as a Wolves player, having initially joined on loan from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021, before making his move permanent the following summer for around £14 million.

Hwang, 30, has had a very hot and cold time at Molineux, making 150 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 27 and assisting 12, but never truly being the main man for the Old Gold.

Under contract until 2028 with the option of a further year, whether Hwang, who is on an estimated £70k per week at Wolves, will be sticking around for the second tier remains to be seen.

6 ? ? Tolu Arokodare

Capology estimated wage - £75k per week

Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare only joined Wolves last summer from Belgian side Genk for around £24 million, signing a contract until the summer of 2029 in the Black Country.

However, the towering forward has been left out of Peixoto's pre-season camp in Portugal, with an exit looking increasingly likely.

Italian outfit Fiorentina have offered a loan-to-buy deal for the Wolves forward worth around €22 million, as Wolves look to shift his estimated £75k per week wages off the books for good as soon as possible.

5 ? ? Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

Capology estimated wage - £75k per week

Haitian attacker Jean-Ricner Bellegarde recently represented his nation at their first-ever World Cup before returning to Wolves for their pre-season tour of Portugal.

The 28-year-old joined the Old Gold in the summer of 2023 for around £12.8 million, and under contract until 2028, could well be sticking around for Wolves' venture into the second tier.

His estimated weekly wage of £75k may be hard to stomach for Wolves, but he has the potential to be a real difference-maker at Championship level, and could well be worth that money.

4 ? ? Toti Gomes

Capology estimated wage - £80k per week

One of Wolves' longest-serving players, Toti Gomes made the move to the Black Country in the summer of 2020 from Estoril Praia, and the Portuguese defender has since gone on to make 123 appearances for the club.

The 27-year-old has emerged as a real leader of the pack over the past few years, and will likely be one of the players Peixoto puts his trust in next year to get them out of the division.

At an estimated £80k per week, Gomes is certainly not on an insignificant amount of money, as Peixoto will be hoping he is worth that financial investment.

3 ? ? Raul Jimenez

Capology estimated wage - £100k per week

Returning centre-forward Raul Jimenez is a name adored by large sections of Molineux, having scored 57 goals and grabbed 23 assists in 166 appearances for the club between 2018 and 2023.

Three years with Fulham after recovering from a serious head injury followed, and now, the 35-year-old Mexican international returns to Molineux for one last hurrah, as he hopes to lead the line for the Old Gold back to the Premier League.

Jimenez's estimated wage at Fulham was around £100k per week, though it wouldn't be a surprise if his weekly pay packet was much less upon the drop to the Championship.

2 ? ? Joao Gomes

Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes is a name that has been heavily linked with a move away ever since the final whistle of the Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old arrived in the Black Country from Flamengo three-and-a-half years ago for around £15 million, and has been an ever-present in the middle of the park ever since, but looks to play no part in Wolves' venture into the Championship.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with moves for the midfielder, who Capology estimate to earn £105k per week, as Gomes almost certainly won't be in the Gold of Wolves next season.

1 ? ? Kieran Trippier

Capology estimated wage - £120k per week

Following Jimenez through the doors at Molineux is former England international Kieran Trippier, who has joined on a two-year deal after his release from Newcastle United.

Trippier brings a wealth of experience to Wolves' squad, with over 220 appearances in the Premier League and over 170 in the Championship, having also enjoyed a spell in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

The Bury-born defender was earning an estimated £120k per week in the North East, which is now likely to be much less upon his move to Wolves, though for a player of his quality and experience, it wouldn't be a surprise to learn his wages were still one of the highest in the Old Gold ranks.
