Spurs’ injury list remains daunting, with ten first-team players unavailable. Rodrigo Bentancur is set to return, but James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are suspended, leaving Postecoglou short of key options in midfield.

New signing Antonin Kinsky could feature in goal, although the manager stopped short of confirming his selection.

Postecoglou also touched on the introduction of referee explanations for VAR decisions during the match, bluntly saying he did not welcome the move.

He questioned whether fans would truly be satisfied with explanations for controversial calls, referencing a disputed handball decision from the Newcastle game. Despite the challenges, Postecoglou remains focused on the immediate task. The League Cup represents Tottenham’s best shot at ending their 17-year trophy drought.
