Spurs have taken a huge step this season under Martin Ho, who replaced Robert Vilahamn last summer.

They strengthened during the January transfer window, adding five players to their squad for the second half of the campaign.

Speaking on Tottenham’s YouTube channel, Rogers revealed the club are already working towards the summer transfer window.

Rogers reflected on Tottenham’s business already this season as well as future transfer plans.

Speaking on the January window, Rogers said: “(It was) very busy, we were fortunate to get a lot of the business done really early, which is down to a lot of planning that we did from the summer.

“How we looked at Martin (Ho) coming in, we strategically looked at how we want to plan out and rebuild the squad and we looked at three windows.

“The summer just gone, January, and now we’re already looking ahead to the coming summer.”

Rogers said that Tottenham are in a “really good place” for the summer, with a “number of conversations ongoing”.

He said: “We’ve been working on next summer for the last couple of months. We know there were potential other opportunities for us in January, but the moments weren’t quite there. We don’t want to make rash decisions.

“I remember sitting with Vinai (Venkatesham) when he first arrived and we talked about ambitions and where we want to go, but managing and being smart with what we do.

“It’s one thing investing more money, but it’s being smart with how you do it and making sure we’re making really, really strong decisions that are going to set the foundations and underpin our success for the coming years

Rogers on Champions League ambitions

Rogers described Tottenham as “fiercely ambitious” and hopes to create a team that fans and the club can be proud of.

He said: “We’re making some real good progress. We have huge ambitions, we want to be in the Champions League. We want to be sustainable in the Champions League and competing on all fronts.

“We know we are still a long way from where we want to be.”

Rogers on Tottenham’s January transfer window signings

Tottenham’s January signings will play a huge part if they are to qualify for the Champions League in the coming seasons.

Rogers revealed that Spurs had been working on the signing of Signe Gaupset since last summer.

He said: “(She’s) a huge talent, she had a phenomenal Euros and one of the advantages we had was that she had already worked with Martin and was keen to rejoin him here.

“Equally, the players, Hanna (Wijk), Matilda (Nilden) and Julie (Blakstad) have been, again, identifying their personalities first and foremost, their characters, looking at their background and how they’ve played for their previous clubs, the amount of games they’ve played and what value do they bring to the WSL around their physicality, their technical work.”

Speaking about loan signing Maika Hamano, he revealed that he had held talks with Ho about the Japanese midfielder in the summer.

Tottenham decided to make a move as Hamano was struggling for minutes at Chelsea.
