Spurs narrowly avoided what would be a staggering relegation on the final day of the previous campaign, with rivals West Ham instead dropping into the Championship.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi masterminded the great escape, which saw Spurs move out of the bottom three by picking up 11 points from their final six games.

Spurs have moved quickly to back to manager, with defenders Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson arriving on free transfers and centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke set to join in a deal worth £52million.

And Spurs’ first test comes in their first game, with a tricky trip to London rivals Brentford. The Bees were one of the few teams Spurs did not lose to last season, but Keith Andrews impressed in his first season with a ninth-placed finish.

It is part of a tough opening run for De Zerbi & Co, with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea all up before November.

They meet Premier League champions Arsenal in the first north London derby of the season on December 5, a home, and head to the Emirates on May 1.

Fiercely contested derbies with Chelsea are away on October 24 and home on May 8, one week after a trip to Arsenal.

The traditional festive period will see Spurs at home to Bournemouth on Boxing Day and at home to Brighton on December 30. Their first game of 2027 is away to Manchester City on January 2, and the season concludes away at Aston Villa.

Spurs’ run-in looks devilishly tough, with games against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa wrapped around a trip to Coventry City.
