In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Santos full-back Souza. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian defender this year.

Souza’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football

The talented teenager has come through the youth ranks of Santos and has done well to establish himself as a top performer for their senior team. Souza has already featured in 38 matches for the Brazilian club this season, scoring one goal and grabbing four assists in all competitions.

The Brazilian full-back is currently among the best young defenders in South American football. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are hoping to get him on board this year.

His current contract at Santos will run out at the end of 2028, which could make it tough for Tottenham to snap him up on the cheap this January or at the end of this campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Keeping A Keen Eye On Souza: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Souza is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can create the odd chance for his teammates from the left flank.

However, the Brazilian prospect is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to bring him on board this year.

Souza would no doubt bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Thomas Frank’s defence in the long run. He is more than capable of securing a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.

At 19, Souza has got the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Frank would be wise to step up his efforts to land him soon.
