In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their pursuit of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers this summer. It is believed that Spurs are prepared to move in for the English playmaker in this transfer window.

Rogers’ Impressive Form In The Premier League

Rogers enjoyed a great run of form at the West Midlands club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 23-year-old found the back of the net 14 times and earned 16 assists in 54 matches for the Villans last season across all fronts.

The English talent was a good performer in the opponent’s half as he averaged 1.59 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 36.4% of his attempts on target. Rogers even distributed possession relatively well after completing 73.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Rogers is under contract at the Midlands club until the summer of 2030. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to devise a move for him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Is Rogers A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Rogers is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for others around him in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger on either flank if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.

Rogers would add plenty of goals and assists to Spurs boss Thomas Frank’s frontline. Plus, he will be an ideal replacement for James Maddison, who is sidelined after suffering a serious injury in pre-season.

At 23, Rogers has got a bright future ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for Spurs to pursue in this transfer window. He might even help the North London giants challenge across all competitions over the next few years.
