Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has spoken out about being threatened with a firearm for the first time.
The Spurs star was out on the night of September 6 with a pal in London when the incident happened.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club have been providing Udogie with the needed support since a football agent threatened him at gunpoint, and he has admitted that the incident left him shocked.
“The club showed me good support and was next to me every day,” the Italian international told The Athletic.
“I’m really grateful to them for what they have done and for keeping me and my family safe. It’s really good for me.
“Obviously, it was important (to feel that support). Because it’s a new city for me. It’s my third year (at Spurs) but obviously London is a big city. So to be here with my family and my daughter, it’s good to have the club around me.
“Yeah, of course. It was not something I’d wish on anyone. It was a shock. But it’s OK, now we look forward.”
Udogie was not hurt during the incident and the agent has been banned from contacting him and visiting Spurs’ training ground.
He has moved on and will be hoping to help Tottenham finish in the top-five and win silverware this term after their Europa League triumph last term.
The North London club have just one win of their last seven Premier League games and manager Thomas Frank will be eager to turn things around quickly.
Spurs are back in action tomorrow when they host Brentford, and they need the home fans to support them in a game they desperately need to win.
They have won just one league game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this term, losing four times, and their home form needs significant improvement if they want to qualify for Europe next term.
