Tottenham Hotspur have ‘made it clear’ that one of their in-demand players can only leave on a permanent deal and as such, they have ‘rejected’ a loan offer.

Spurs had a number of players out on loan in the recent season, including Bryan Gil, Manor Solomon and Alejo Veliz.

Veliz, 21, spent last season on loan at La Liga club Espanyol as Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou wanted to provide him with more first-team action.

However, the spell did not prove to be a particularly impressive one for Veliz as he ended with just one goal contribution in 27 La Liga appearances.

Now his former club Rosario Central want to take him back to Argentina, but their efforts to do so have hit choppy waters.

Tottenham have ‘made it clear’ that they only want to sell the striker, according to journalist Uriel Lugt.

They have, as a result, ‘rejected’ a loan offer for him from the Argentine club.

As such, Rosario Central’s efforts to bring Veliz back have been placed on standby and it is far from clear if a deal can happen.

Tottenham have Veliz tied down with a contract running until the summer of 2029 and there were some high hopes of him when he was signed.

Despite signing Dominic Solanke last summer, Tottenham are still in the market for a striker and a number of names have been linked.

They have been linked with a move for Nice striker Evann Guessand, though there is competition for the 23-year-old from Wolves.

They are also trying to make life tough for Manchester United after having entered the race for Bryan Mbeumo.

Tottenham will be under the stewardship of new manager Thomas Frank and it remains to be seen how he sees the squad shaping up.
