Tottenham have struck a £50 million deal with Brighton & Hove Albion for Luka Vuskovic, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The defender has been pushing for a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with no guarantees of regular playing time under Roberto De Zerbi next season.

Brighton will pay an initial £46 million fixed fee plus £4 million in add-ons. Having reluctantly had to part ways with Vuskovic, Tottenham have also successfully negotiated a significant 20% sell-on clause, along with future matching rights.

The 19-year-old Croatian international’s stock has risen exponentially over the past year after a sensational campaign on loan at Hamburger SV.

His robust defensive displays, maturity, and a remarkable return of six goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances helped Hamburg comfortably secure their top-flight status.

Vuskovic’s market value exploded during his stint in Germany, making him the joint-second most valuable Under-21 centre-back on the planet alongside Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen.

Desperate for regular first-team football to sustain his rapid development, Vuskovic made it clear to Spurs that a move to Brighton—a club renowned for nurturing elite young talent—was his preferred destination.

While losing a prospect of Vuskovic’s calibre is a bitter pill for some Tottenham fans to swallow, the income is a much-welcome windfall.

After recently agreeing a deal for West Ham’s in-demand midfielder Mateus Fernandes, Spurs are closing in on a fifth signing of the summer.

They are also in discussions with Newcastle United over Sandro Tonali, while attacking additions are expected in earnest, with Eli Kroupi Junior among those being looked at.
