Tottenham Hotspur sign Swedish international defender Wijk | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Swedish international defender Hanna Wijk on a long-term deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Lilywhites this morning.

The 22-year-old joins Spurs following a lengthy spell with Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan club BK Håcken. Wijk will officially make the move to North London on 1 January 2026.

Wijk spent her youth representing Floda BoIF and Lerum IS before being picked up by BK Håcken. The defender went on to establish herself as a first team regular for The Wasps. Wijk won the OBOS Damallsvenskan title and the Swedish Cup in her time as a BK Håcken player.

On the international stage, Wijk first broke into the Swedish national team in 2022. She eventually made her senior international debut in October 2024.

After joining Spurs, Wijk said “I’m really happy to be here at Spurs. It feels great to be here, I got goosebumps when I put on the shirt.

“It has always been my dream to move abroad from Sweden and play in this league. I love the league and I watched it a lot from home, so I’m really looking forward to playing here in England, and also for Spurs. The team seems very good. I have watched a lot of games and I like the way they play. I feel like this is a good place for me to be. As a full-back, I like the way the full-backs play here, so I think it’s a perfect fit for me.”

Wijk is Spurs’ second January transfer window addition.
