Injury problems continue for Ange Postecoglou
Tottenham have confirmed Radu Dragusin has suffered an ACL injury.
Dragusin injured his right knee in last week’s Europa League win over Elfsborg and scans have revealed he faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
The centre-back will undergo surgery and, while Spurs have not put a timeframe on his return, he will miss the rest of the season.
A Spurs statement on Tuesday said: “We can confirm that Radu Dragusin will undergo surgery for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.
“Radu will be assessed by our medical team to determine when he can return to training.
“We're all with you, Radu.”
Dragusin’s injury is a major blow for Spurs, who remain short on fit centre-backs options despite the £20.9million signing of Kevin Danso from Lens this week.
Spurs have not been able to rely on the fitness of Micky van de Ven or Cristian Romero this season and Archie Gray and Ben Davies started at centre-back against Brentford on Sunday.
Both Gray and Davies impressed in the 2-0 win at the Gtech Community Stadium but losing Dragusin is a major blow for Spurs ahead of a huge week for Ange Postecoglou.
Van de Ven missed the Brentford win and Postecoglou is set to provide an update on his fitness at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
Danso is available to come straight into the Spurs squad for the trip to Anfield.
