Tottenham Hotspur are rekindling their interest in Manchester City’s Savinho to bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking options, per the Daily Mail.

They avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth and must now reinforce the squad to ensure they are competing at the other end of the table next season.

Spurs have turned to Savinho, who has not enjoyed the best of times since moving to England.

Despite earning a reputation as one of the most exciting wingers in La Liga, he struggled to recreate the same performances in England.

The Brazilian is just not as dynamic as he used to be and lacks end product. But that has not stopped Tottenham from constantly looking his way.

They have tried to sign him in the last two transfer windows.

City worked hard to keep him, but may not have the same resolve this summer if Spurs come knocking again. However, Tottenham should proceed with caution.

Savinho would be a risky signing

A permanent transfer would be a huge gamble considering how far his stock has fallen since arriving in England, but a loan deal with an option to buy could make far more sense.

The 22-year-old was electric during his time in Spain, terrorising defenders in one-v-one situations with his sharp dribbling, acceleration and unpredictability.

Those incredible qualities do not simply disappear overnight.

Confidence and rhythm play a massive role for wide players, and he has looked like a footballer weighed down by expectation.

De Zerbi could help him get back to the top as he did with Mason Greenwood at Marseille.

The Italian tactician has a strong track record of reviving technically gifted attackers and creating systems that allow expressive wingers to flourish.
