Standard Sport understands that the midfield pair, who have joined the club for a combined £185million, will be part of the first batch of players back at Hotspur Way as preparations for next season get underway.

Tonali completed his club-record £100m move to Spurs on Monday, while Fernandes arrived from West Ham for £85m last Thursday as Spurs’ aggressive start to the summer transfer window continued.

Tonali and Fernandes will be joined by a host of the club’s academy players, including returning loanees Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear.

Moore and Lankshear will both be keen to impress manager Roberto De Zerbi after impressive loan spells last season.

Moore was named both Rangers’ young player of the season and the Scottish Premier League’s young player of the season. Lankshear was named Oxford’s young player of season after finishing as the club’s top scorer with 12 goals.

Interest in the pair is gathering pace, and they will both will continue to assess their options heading into the new season.

Those who headed out to the World Cup this summer will see their returns staggered depending on their progress in the competition, with Andy Robertson expected to be one of the first players back after Scotland exited in the group stage.

Spurs will have 12 days to get up to speed before their first pre-season game, a behind-closed-doors friendly against MK Dons at Hotspur Way.

They will then travel to New Zealand a day later as their pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia begins, with friendlies scheduled against Auckland FC, Sydney FC and Chelsea.

Spurs’ pre-season preparations are then wrapped up with a friendly against Spanish side Getafe at Hotspur Way before a double-header against Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, one week before the start of the Premier League season.
