Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero is continuing to knock back interest in his signature, in the hopes of Barcelona moving forward with an approach to bring him in.

This comes amid the understanding that the Argentine views a Camp Nou switch as something of a personal dream.

Stopper Romero is widely expected to bring a close to his stint on the books of Tottenham this summer, having long made known his desire for a new challenge.

Italian heavyweights Inter Milan recently positioned themselves at the front of the queue for his signature, after opening club-to-club talks with their Spurs counterparts.

Romero, however, is yet to give the green light to a move back to Serie A. And as alluded to above, this week, an insight into precisely why has surfaced online.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, citing SportItalia, who report that:

‘The Argentine centre-back has not finished giving the okay to Inter Milan because he is waiting for one last move from Barcelona to get his services.’

Deco and the Blaugrana brass have for their part stayed in constant contact with Romero’s entourage this summer, albeit with it having been made clear to the 28-year-old that he will only be considered a realistic signing in the case of a current member of Hansi Flick’s defensive ranks moving on.
