Tottenham return to Carabao Cup action on Wednesday evening with Doncaster travelling to North London. Thomas Frank has already confirmed changes, as Spurs look to balance squad depth with progression in the competition.
Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison are all expected to be rested. Guglielmo Vicario has started every match under Frank so far, but 22-year-old Antonin Kinsky will be given a chance in goal.

“Antonin will start tomorrow, so I’m very happy with him as a goalkeeper,” Frank said at his pre-match press conference.
The young Czech goalkeeper has had limited minutes since joining Tottenham in January. Frank emphasised his belief in Kinsky’s long-term future, adding: “I think he’s a very good goalkeeper and I think he’s got very good potential. For any player that is not starting, they’re not happy. Some probably understand it a bit more, or outfielder sometimes.
“The easy thing for Antonin was to stay at his former club and now it’s a bigger stage, a bigger challenge. I think he’s got a great future here at Tottenham. I like what I see from him. He just needs to keep training well and doing well.”
Kevin Danso is set to feature, while Archie Gray could line up in midfield but may also be asked to cover in defence. Injuries continue to limit options, with Ben Davies and Kota Takai both unavailable. Lucas Bergvall is likely to step aside after a busy run of fixtures, while Kudus is also due a rest.
With Dominic Solanke sidelined by an ankle injury and Randal Kolo Muani still recovering, Mathys Tel is expected to lead the line. The young forward has been eager to establish himself in Tottenham colours and this tie could be his chance to ignite his career at the club.
Jun’ai Byfield and Luca Williams-Barnett are among the academy players who may be called into the squad. Frank is keen to provide opportunities for emerging talent.
“I think it would be a great opportunity to have some of the younger players on the bench and I always think it’s a privileged position to be in if you can give anyone a debut, especially a young player,” he said. “That’s always special and a big moment, so definitely I’m open for that.”
Tottenham are expected to field a mix of youth and experience, with the predicted XI in a 4-2-3-1 shape: Kinsky, Spence, Romero, Danso, Udogie, Gray, Sarr, Johnson, Simons, Odobert, Tel.
Kick-off against Doncaster is scheduled for 7:45pm BST at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday 24 September 2025.
