Tottenham 'to begin' talks for Victor Osimhen as De Zerbi seeks striker | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen at Roberto De Zerbi's request as they seek a new focal point in attack.

Reports link Spurs with an initial offer of 50-55 million pounds, while Galatasaray want about 65 million. Some still consider that price steep.

CaughtOffside reports that Tottenham have the sporting green light to begin official negotiations and that personal terms are not expected to be a major obstacle.

Even so, there have been no direct contacts between the clubs yet. Spurs accept a deal of this size may require sales after heavy spending in this window.

De Zerbi wants an out-and-out striker, with Richarlison's future uncertain and Dominic Solanke yet to solve the attack. According to The Guardian, he would rather Richarlison stayed, although the player has not decided.

With less than a year left on his contract, any Richarlison exit could release funds and create urgency for a top-class replacement. Osimhen's profile suits De Zerbi, with pace, power and penalty-box movement.

He hit 41 goals and 10 assists in 52 matches for Galatasaray last season, form that explains elite interest. Nigeria national team coach Eric Chelle has described him as the world's leading striker.

Tottenham also face rival interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, competition that could drive up the fee. Money remains decisive, around 60 million pounds might be logical, but beyond 100 million could be a major risk.
