Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes in line to make first appearances for Tottenham

Tottenham begin their preparations for the new season with a behind closed doors friendly against MK Dons this week.

Spurs, on the back of successive 17th-placed Premier League finishes, have made quite a splash in the summer transfer window, spending over £200million thus far in hope of climbing up the table.

The standout arrivals have been Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, for a combined fee of £185m. With neither midfielder taking part at the World Cup, it has allowed for a full integration period under Roberto De Zerbi.

MK Dons, meanwhile, are gearing up for a campaign in League One after earning automatic promotion.

Paul Warne’s side were beaten 2-1 by NK Istra in Croatia last Friday, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing finding the net for the Dons in the second half to set up a grandstand finish.
