Graeme Bailey on TBR Football has reported that Tottenham want to sign the young centre-back from Sporting CP, Ousmane Diomande. He is one of the best young defensive prospects in the last few years and has made a big progress in his career. The 21-year-old has attracted the attention of number of Premier League clubs with his performances and Tottenham are one of them.

The Sporting CP man has a £67 million release clause in his contract with the club till 2027. However, the report has reiterated that the Portugal club will be ready to sell him for £50 million. Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Chelsea al want to sign him.

Ousmane Diomande, Sporting CP’s Ivorian gem, is a centre-back who has got it all at just 21. His composure on the ball is unreal. The Ivorian is ambidextrous, slicing through presses with pinpoint passes that leave opponents dizzy. Whether it’s a long, sweeping ball or a quick switch, his vision is always his plus point.

Defensively, the 21-year-old is a beast: tall, fast, and strong, he dominates duels and recovers like a sprinter. His knack for stepping out to intercept or carry the ball forward adds flair to his game. Still raw at times, sure, but Diomande’s mix of physicality and finesse screams future world-class talent. He has also contributed with 2 goals in 37 matches that he has been part of across competitions so far this season.

Good decision?

Tottenham’s interest in Ousmane Diomande should excite the fans. The Sporting CP star, only 21, brings pace, power, and ball-playing nous—qualities Spurs crave in their backline. With Cristian Romero’s future uncertain, Diomande could be a smart long-term bet, especially at £50 million, below his £67 million clause. Some worry he’s still raw, needing time to gel, but his upside screams potential. If Ange Postecoglou molds him right, this could be a masterstroke for Tottenham’s defense.
