Tough Start: Egypt U20 Suffer 2-0 Defeat to Japan in FIFA World Cup Opener
Egypt's U20 national team began their FIFA U20 World cup campaign in Chile with disappointing 2 - 0 defeat against Japan early on Sunday.
Coach Osama Nabih fielded starting XI including Ahmed Waheb, Seif Safaga, Ahmed Abdin, Abdallah Bostangy, Mohab Samy, Tebo Gabriel, Selim Telib, Ahmed Kabaka, Mohamed Abdullah, Hamed Abdullah and Ahmed Nail.
Despite the promising line up, the Pharaohs struggled to impose themselves.
Japan took the lead in the 29 minute when RB Leipzig defender Rion Ichihara converted penalty.
Early in the second half, Shonan Bellmare striker Hisatsugu Ishii doubled the advantage with powerful finish after setup by Shunsuke Saito. Egypt's goalkeeper failed to stop the shot.
Egypt now face tough challenge in Group A which also includes hosts Chile & New Zealand .. Chile will meet New Zealand in clash that could shape the group standings.
