Toulouse 0-1 Marseille ratings: Paixao shines, Casseres anonymous | OneFootball

Marseille won 1-0 at Toulouse on Saturday night. According to L'Équipe, Igor Paixao impressed while Cristian Casseres endured a rare off-night.

Geronimo Rulli first punched away a wide Casseres free-kick on 13 minutes, then Mason Greenwood flashed a fierce effort wide on 16 minutes. The breakthrough came on 18 minutes when Paixao escaped Warren Kamanzi and squared for Greenwood, with Casseres slow to react. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then failed to hit the target after rounding Guillaume Restes from Casseres’s errant back-pass on 27 minutes, before Paixao teed up Geoffrey Kondogbia on 31 minutes.

Kamanzi went close with a drive that grazed the bar on 45 minutes, and a Rulli clearance was charged down but off target in stoppage time. Emersonn was replaced at the interval by Santiago Hidalgo, who almost levelled with his first touch on 46 minutes.

Yann Gboho remained Toulouse’s sharpest threat, clipping the crossbar on 53 minutes as Paixao tracked back to disrupt him. Greenwood tangled with Donnum on 58 minutes, then Benjamin Pavard made a key intervention on 62 minutes as Marseille held firm.

Greenwood was replaced by Amine Gouiri on 66 minutes, Casseres made way for Alexis Vossah on 69 minutes and Kamanzi departed for Julian Vignolo on 78 minutes. Aubameyang went off for Emerson Palmieri on 82 minutes. Paixao missed a late sitter on 90+5 minutes, but Marseille saw it out.
