Train explosion disrupts access to Neo Química Arena on Corinthians matchday | OneFootball

An explosion and fire on Line 12-Safira halted Lines 11-Coral, 12-Safira and 13-Jade this morning, disrupting travel in São Paulo’s east on the day Corinthians face Remo at Neo Química Arena.

According to Meu Timao, the incident happened between Brás and Tatuapé on Line 12-Safira, near Bresser-Mooca on Metro Line 3-Vermelha. A possible short circuit cut power from substations, stopping the operator’s lines. No injuries were reported, though one carriage burned out.

Passengers shifted to Line 3-Vermelha, crowding Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera. To ease pressure, the Metro added two extra trains and opened transfers at both stations from 6:00.

By around 10:24, services began to stabilise. At publication time, Lines 10-Turquesa, 11-Coral and 13-Jade were still resuming, while Line 12-Safira ran partially between Calmon Viana and Tatuapé. Line 8-Diamante had longer gaps between Júlio Prestes and Barra Funda due to planned maintenance.

Supporters heading to the arena should plan alternative routes and check updates before leaving. Technical teams remain on site working to find the cause and complete repairs.

Corinthians host Remo at 19:30 in the 19th and final round of the first half of the Campeonato Brasileiro, with more than 40,000 expected. It is their official return after the World Cup break, following a 1-1 friendly with FC Cascavel on 12 July. A win could lift them to seventh, depending on Botafogo v Vitória.
