Arsenal have been linked with Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.
However, they have received a blow in their pursuit of the England international.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Gordon has already informed his friends that he wants to join Bayern Munich this summer.
The Bavarians are planning to meet with the player’s representatives in the coming weeks as they look to complete a transfer before the World Cup starts.
Arsenal have long admired Gordon, and he has featured in recruitment planning meetings.
The Gunners are in the market for a player to compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank.
However, Bayern are in pole position to sign Gordon. He has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Premier League this season.
He has featured in 26 league games this season, bagging six goals and two assists.
Gordon is contracted at St James’ Park until 2030, but he wants to join a club where he can play in the Champions League.
Newcastle could miss out entirely on European football next term, as they are 14th in the league standings with seven games remaining.
The Magpies suffered a shock 2-1 loss against Bournemouth on Saturday after goals from Marcus Tavernier and Adrien Truffert.
